Eye-Hand Coordination in Image-Guided Surgery

Conducted in cooperation with the Department of Computer Sciences of theSimon Frasier University with the lab of Stella Atkins. Geoff Tien and XiantaJiang are both deeply involved in this project as part of their thesis research.

How the visual input guides the hand motions with tools is the essential element for surgical skill in image-guided procedures. In our lab, we use motion- and eye-tracking to study eye-hand coordination patterns of surgeons in various surgical settings, including general, micro, orthopedic, neuro, ENT and gynocologic surgeries.
